Talk to Someone

For those of you that don’t know, Fibromyalgia causes almost every day; muscle pain, fatigue, and a loss of memory at times.

Working where I do, its really not the best job if you have daily muscle pain and fatigue, but I do it every day in spite and I’m a boss at it.. To deal with the soreness I do yoga, and stretches every morning, but let me tell you, yesterday my shift just about broke me. My muscles were just so sore from the last week and half of work that yesterday they didn’t want to move and were yelling every time I made them work.

Unfortunately you cant just call into work because “my muscles are sore” because:

  1. You are responsible for your job and your an adult.
  2. Not many people understand that when your muscles are sore, its not an everyday, played to much basketball sore, but in fact a sore where when your boyfriend try’s to just caress your leg gently and lovingly hurts so much it brings tears..
  • I didn’t call in, I showed up, I ended up covering another shift so having to work my body twice as much as I had originally expected to but it needed to be done, so I stepped up and did it. Half way through my shift I had to tell my crew leader what was going on because I needed to step out for a minute. From that point on in the night she did everything possible to help me and help keep my kitchen on track because my mind was not in the right spot. When she noticed I was just about done she jumped into the kitchen and took over for and told me to get off the clock and go home.
  • Because I told someone that I was hurting and in need of help, I got the help that I needed. Yes there are so many people that don’t understand or even know about Fibromyalgia, but if you just talk to them a little bit, it will benefit them and benefit you.
  • I water you, you water me; we grow together.
